We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our HR/Finance team and play a crucial role in managing our payroll processes with accuracy and efficiency.
**Position Summary:**
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and maintaining payroll records. This role involves working closely with HR and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate payroll operations.
**Key Responsibilities: **
- Process and manage payroll for +/-300 employees, including calculating wages, overtime, and deductions weekly.
- Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records, including employee data, tax withholdings, and benefits contributions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and labor laws.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and address any concerns or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll reports, summaries, and tax filings, including quarterly and annual payroll tax reports.
- Collaborate with the HR team on employee onboarding, terminations, and changes to payroll-related information.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data and processes to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on payroll best practices and relevant legislation changes to ensure compliance.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum [2-3+] years of experience in payroll processing or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws and labor laws.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
- Experience with HRIS systems and integrating payroll functions.
